Double Centurions in Derby Win

North Cave had a comfortable 88 run win in this evening’s Howdenshire League match at local rivals South Cave. North Cave won the toss and batted first. They amassed a huge 222 without loss in their 20 overs. Openers Jack Storey (100 not out) and Captain James Windeatt (101 not out) both hit centuries as they batted throughout the innings. Windeatt got to three figures first hitting 4 sixes and 12 fours and then Storey reached his century (2 sixes and 15 fours) off the final ball of the innings, thanks to over throws from the South Cave fielders. In reply Karl Youngman (1 for 32) took the early wicket of Liam Wallace (5), but then P. Mountfield (84) led the fight back hitting 84 in quick time. He put on 56 with Walker (19) and 50 with T. Mounser (10). When he was bowled by Ashley Page, South Cave’s hopes went with him and Page (4 for 23) and Charlie Cockin (4 for 39) took the remaining 6 South Cave wickets for 11 runs. South Cave all out for 134.

Stellings Sees Cave to Win at Duffield

North Cave staggered over the line to win a very tight York Vale League Division 1 match by 3 wickets. North Cave won the toss and put North Duffield into bat. A. J. Clarke (1 for 21) struck early dismissing S. Pickles, before Trevor Britain (15) and M. Fortnam (17) progressed the score to 44. Mike Stellings (4 for 31) pegged Duffield back, but D. Buckley (26) and J. Pickles (41) hit important runs to push Duffield up to 134 all out. Pickles hitting 21 off one over from Jonathan Tomlinson, who then took 2 wickets, before James Windeatt (3 for 9) finished off the tail. In Reply Craig Patrick (2 for 55) removed both openers and J. Pickles (2 for 25) helped reduced Cave to 45 for 4. Mike Stellings (51 not out) anchored the innings and he added 30 for the 5th wicket with Simon Cooke (21). James Windeatt (13) pushed Cave to 115 for 6 with Stellings and despite S. Hardy taking two late wickets, Stellings saw Cave home by 3 wickets.

North Cave have been drawn away to Bishopthorpe in the HPH Cup Semi-Final to be played on Sunday 12th July at 1.30pm.

North Cave Move into the HPH Semi-Finals

North Cave won through to the Semi-Finals of the HPH Cup with an 128 run victory away to Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson won the toss and put Cave into bat in a match reduced to 36 overs per side after rain delayed the start of play. Charlie Cockin (19) and Damian Sharp (55) got Cave off to a good start putting on 36 for the first wicket. Rob Page (23) continued to build the innings with Sharp and they took the score to 74. James Ferguson came to the wicket and hit 6 sixes in his superb innings of 80. He added 81 with Sharp and a quick fire 61 with A. J. Clarke (20) as the Ben Johnson bowlers toiled away at the end of the innings. Cave finished on 226 for 5 from their 36 overs. In reply the Cave bowlers got on top and Oliver Brett (3 for 31) and A. J. Clarke (2 for 33) removed the top order to reduce Ben Johnson to 28 for 5. P. Morrison held the innings together with a defiant 32 and S. Thornton hit 21, but John Buttle (2 for 14) and Jonathan Tomlinson (3 for 16) finished off the tail as Ben Johnson were all out for 98 in the 24th over.

HICE Defeat Cave to Increase Lead

HICE increased their lead at the top of the Howdenshire Evening League East Division with a 57 run win at North Cave. HICE won the toss and batted first. They lost Dan Sage early caught by Jack Storey off Chris Short. Harry Gamble (30) and Luke Hills (71 not out) then built the HICE innings adding 80. Cave hit back with Rob Page (3 for 41) and Karl Youngman (1 for 35) and they reduced HICE to 100 for 5. Rhys Kissack (17 not out) joined Hills and they pushed HICE to 144 for 5 at the end of their 20 overs. In reply Cave were reduced to 18 for 4 with Alex Chapple (3 for 38) and Liam Walker (2 for 31) doing the damage. Matt Wilkinson hit a rapid 32 before he was caught on the boundary. James Windeatt (17) and Charlie Cockin (22) put on 38 to keep Cave up with the run rate, but wickets fell and Grant Van Es (2 for 16) and Dan Smith (3 for 1) wiped out the tail to dismiss Cave for 87 in 15.1 overs.
