Cave Continue Winning Run

North Cave continued their unbeaten run at home to Fulfordgate in today’s York Vale League Division 1 match. Fulfordgate won the toss and batted first. They lost H. Leadley in the second over with no score on the board, but Alan Baldock (33) and L. Hancy (14) rebuilt to 28 before Oliver Brett (3 for 28) struck twice. Baldock and J. Le Hurray (20) added 32 for the 4th wicket and then M. Nelson (12) and M. Henderson (19) added 30 for the 6th, but James Windeatt took 5 for 10 in only 3.5 overs as Fulfordgate lost 5 wickets without score to finish 112 all out. Jonathan Tomlinson took 3 catches for Cave. In reply Cave lost Rob Page for 7, but then Charlie Cockin (65 not out) and Mike Stellings (40 not out) shared an unbeaten stand of 105 to see Cave to a 9 wicket win in 20.3 overs.

Comfortable Win Over South Cave

North Cave had a comfortable win over South Cave in this evening’s Howdenshire League match at North Cave. South Cave won the toss and put North Cave into bat. The openers started well until Charlie Cockin (9) was LBW to T. McConnell. Rhys Duerden (18) joined Jack Storey (56) and the pair added 29 before Duerden was out bowled by P. Mountfield. Matt Wilkinson (46) hit 25 from one Tim Greene over as he and Storey put on 71 for the 3rd wicket. J. Sutton (2 for 22) removed both and then North Cave lost wickets as they stumbled to 157 for 9. T. McConnell finished with 4 for 20 and Will Harris 2 for 21 to restrict North Cave at the death. In reply A. J. Clarke (2 for 6 from 5 overs) and Ashley Page (2 fro 20) had South Cave struggling at 23 for 4. Only Sam Craig (49) offered any real resistance as Karl Youngman (2 for 43) and John Buttle (3 for 15) kept South Cave to 92 for 9 from their 20 overs. North Cave winning by 65 runs.

North Cave win Local Derby in HPH Cup Tie

North Cave won the battle of the Cave’s in today’s HPH Cup 1st round tie played at North Cave against neighbours South Cave. South Cave won the toss and batted first. They made hard work of batting against some tight bowling from the North Cave opening bowlers Mike Stellings (0 for 18 from 10 overs) and AJ Clarke (1 for 1) and then James Windeatt (1 for 10). At drinks South Cave were only 32 for 2. Ben Scorah (22) and O. Pearce (12) batted for a long time to add 31 runs for the third wicket. In the second half of the innings, John Buttle (3 for 32), Karl Youngman (2 for 14) and Jonathan Tomlinson (2 for 6) made life difficult for the batsmen and bowled South Cave out for 85 after 39 overs. In reply North Cave lost Damian Sharp in the second over with no score, but then Charlie Cockin and Mike Stellings steadily built the innings after a tough start against the bowling of A. Bahl (0 for 10 from 7 overs) and Ben Scorah (1 for 16). The pair added 61 runs for the second wicket before Stellings fell for 25. Charlie Cockin (52 not out) completed his half century as North Cave ran out winners by 8 wickets in 20.1 overs.

Cave Beat Ferriby in Short Time

North Cave romped to victory in double quick time in this evening’s Howdenshire League match at home to North Ferriby. Ferriby won the toss and batted first. Olly Brett (2 for 15) and Chris Short (0 for 21) kept thing’s tight early and then Brett struck with two wickets in consecutive balls to reduce Ferriby to 11 for 2. Hudson (30) and J. Auld (16) then added 39 runs before the Ferriby batting collapse began. Karl Youngman (1 for 31) and Matt Wilkinson (3 for 8), together with three run outs, saw Ferriby struggle to 76 for 9. In reply the Cave openers Jack Storey (30 not out) and James Windeatt (43 not out) made short work of reaching their target of 77 in 7.5 overs for a 10 wicket win.

Comfortable Win at Stockton

North Cave had a comfortable win away at Stockton & Hopgrove in today’s York Vale League match. Cave won the toss and put Stockton in to bat. Only T. Williams (28) and J. Kerrison (17) made double figures and they added 30 for the 4th wicket, as Stockton were bowled out for only 76. First Mike Stellings (2 for 22) and A. J. Clarke (1 for 22) reduced Stockton to 21 for 3 and then James Windeatt (4 for 20) and John Buttle (3 for 8) took late wickets as they lost 6 wickets for 12 runs, with Keeper Rob Page taking four catches behind the stumps. In reply Cave took just 23 overs to reach their target of 79 for the loss of four wickets. After a steady start Cave lost opener Damian Sharp for 3 before Charlie Cockin (25) and Will Ferguson (27) shared a partnership of 43 to see Cave to within touching distance of the target. D. Tyler took 2 wickets for Stockton as three wickets fell before Cave moved to a 6 wicket win.
