North Duffield Match Abandoned

Posted by Craig on June 28th, 2014

Today’s York Vale League Division 1 match at North Duffield was abandoned after 30 overs, with North Duffield on 118 for 4, due to the rain falling steadily and the pitch being wet and slippery. Conditions were damp from the start after overnight rain and North Cave won the toss and put North Duffield in. Heavy drizzle forced the teams off after 6 overs and an early tea was taken. After an inspection both sides decided to give it a go and Paul Johnson (24) and Steve Miller (17) took their opening partnership to 39 before James Windeatt (3 for 38) took three quick wickets. At 44 for 3, Mathew Fortnam (36 not out) and P. Pemberton (20) came together and put on 49 before Pemberton was run out. Then the rain started falling again and the teams shook hands.

Comfortable Win at Home to Kelfield

Posted by Craig on June 14th, 2014

North Cave had a comfortable win at home to Kelfield in today’s HPH York Vale League Division 1 match. North Cave won the toss and put Kelfield into bat. It was tough going on a slow soft pitch and opening bowlers Oliver Brett (7 overs 0 for 11) and Yaniv Judah (9 overs 2 for 17) kept things very tight as the batsmen struggled to score runs. Craig Lawson (24) and S. Dunn (28) accumulated runs to take Kelfield to 53 for 3, but then Mike Stellings (11.4 overs 6 for 21), backed up by some good catching, ran through the lower order and with John Buttle (9 overs 1 for 22) restricted Kelfield to 76 all out. In reply Cave again began slowly with Craig Hewson (13) the only man out, before Mark Woodall (33 not out) and Yaniv Judah (23 not out) saw Cave home by 9 wickets with 14 overs to spare.
