In reply Cave got off to a flyer, scoring 39 from the first 4 overs. Mike Stellings (36) and Craig Hewson (37) put on 69 for the first wicket. Kissack (34 not out) added late runs with an unbeaten partnership of 52 to help HICE to 119 for 6 from their 20 overs. In reply Rhys Duerden (13) and Matt Johnson (21) opened with 25 for Cave before Captain Rob Page (50) added 41 with Johnson. Cave Win Run Fest at Kelfield

Posted by Craig on July 20th, 2013

North Cave came out on top of a high scoring game away at Kelfield in todays York Vale League match. Kelfield won the toss and batted first on a good pitch and fast outfield. They got off to a good start with A. Charlton (10) and P. Smith (69) and then M. Rhodes (12) saw them to 43 for 2. John Buttle (2 for 50) took the early wickets for Cave. Smith anchored the innings and he added 119 with C. Walker (61), as the pair looked to build a big total, taking advantage of some indifferent bowling with some lusty blows. Rob Page (3 for 39) and Tom Baxter (4 for 49) regained some control for Cave with late wickets and restricted Kelfield to 219 for 9 from their 40 overs. In reply the Cave innings got off to a terrible start losing three early wickets. Then Craig Hewson (70) and Captain Rob Page (95 not out) slowly rebuilt the innings riding their luck early before getting the Cave run rate back on track with a partnership of 131. Page continued his match winning innings, hitting 2 sixes and 13 fours, with an unbeaten stand of 79 with Tom Baxter (25 not out), as they saw Cave home by 6 wickets.
