North Cave won today’s game at home to Thorpe Willoughby comfortably by 8 wickets. Thorpe Willoughby batted first and made only 82 all out. The only resistance was from N. Shefta who made 20. The wickets were shared between the bowlers with Jonathan Tomlinson, Tom Baxter and James Ferguson all taking 3 wickets. In reply Cave reached the total with Richard Moore being the main contributor with 31 and John Backhouse carrying his bat for 17 not out.

Winning Run Continues at Welton

In tonights Evening League match North Cave beat Welton & Brough by nine wickets in a high scoring game. Welton batted first and made 155 for 7 from their 20 overs. They got off to a fast start with Scott (27) and Eyre (69) hitting quick runs, but the innings faltered when they were dismissed. Andrew Ferguson was the main wicket taker for Cave with 4 for 37 and he was backed up by Mike Stellings 2 for 32 and Ashley Page 1 for 17 from his 4 overs. In reply Rob Page (32) got the innings going and then Mike Stellings (60 not out) and Richard Moore (52 not out) saw North Cave home with a partnership of 102.

Cup Tie at Hemingbrough Rained Off

The Prendergast Memorial Trophy 1st Round tie away at Hemingbrough today was rained off without a ball being bowled. Due to Hemingbrough being unable to field a side next Sunday, they have conceded the tie. Therefore Cave will progress into the draw for the Semi-Finals to be played on the 3rd August.

Cave Go Run Crazy at Newport

North Cave hit a massive 222 for 4 from 20 overs in this evenings game at Newport. In total 16 sixes were hit to the short legside boundary. Rob Page (34) got Cave off to a quick fire start and then Chris Carr (70) and Richard Moore (74) continued the scoring including 29 off one over from Miles Kirk. Tom Baxter (29) finished things off. In reply Mike Stellings took 5 for 25 from his 6 overs to contain the Newport top order. Only Wilson (61 not out) and Mark Ogram (37) offered any resistance. Newport finished on 148 for 7, still 74 runs short.

Cave through to 1st Round

North Cave progressed through to the first round of the Prendergast Memorial Cup after Acomb conceded the Preliminary Round match due to being unable to raise a side. Cave now play away to Hemingbrough 2nds next Saturday.
